Waiting for Change?

Are you waiting for the church to change….

…..or trying to change the church?

I’m wondering which do you think is more painful?  Watching and waiting or leading?

If you have been leading any team through change, chances are you’ve had some moments where you would like to opt out.  Leadership is hard.  If anyone tells you differently, they are lying (or not really leading).

Today, I read a great post from Craig Groeschel where he outlines that instead of creating a 5-year plan, they are creating margin to be able to respond quickly to the ideas that they haven’t even thought of yet.

“Speed, agility, flexibility, and financial margin are far better than a detailed road map.”

How are you keeping your heart and mind ready to respond to God when he asks you to move in a different direction?  Will it throw you for an emotional loop — leaving you frozen and others charging ahead without you?  Or will you be able to master the agility of a running back who quickly cuts through a wall of opposing players?

God’s plan will probably not look like your plan anyway.  Why not stop waiting on the church to change and ask God how you can go change the church?
